MEET MARAHThe person behind the stories.
I'm Marah, the photographer, filmmaker, and creative behind High Country Productions. Based in Colorado and available nationwide, I’m here to create beautiful work while making the entire experience feel a little easier, more personal, and a lot more enjoyable.
It started with a camera. Then came the road.
THE BEGINNINGI've been behind a camera since 2010, but the story of High Country Productions has taken me a lot further than I ever expected.
For the last eight years, my husband and I have worked across photography, videography, and audio production, helping couples and clients turn their ideas into experiences and stories that feel intentional and personal.
Some of the most formative years of that journey were spent living in an RV and traveling across the country. We documented our adventures, photographed weddings in different states, and learned very quickly that life doesn't always go according to plan.
Those years taught me how to adapt, problem-solve, stay optimistic, and find beauty in unexpected places.
Today, Colorado is home, but I still work nationwide bringing that same curiosity, flexibility, and love for storytelling to every wedding, session, and creative project.
FOUR YEARS ON THE ROAD
Home is Colorado. The stories are everywhere.
The long way around turned out to be the right way.
HOW I GOT HERE
I'm originally from Texas, but eventually found my way to Colorado partly because I wanted to be closer to the mountains.
Before settling into the life and work I have now, I spent four years living in an RV and traveling across the country.
Along the way, I documented the journey, vlogged our adventures, and traveled to weddings in different states.
Living that way taught me a lot.
Things don't always go according to plan. Timelines change. Problems happen. Weather doesn't cooperate. And sometimes the best moments are the ones you never planned for.
Those years taught me how to adapt, problem-solve, stay calm, and find beauty wherever I am.
I bring that same energy with me into every wedding, session, and production I work on today.
Stories have always mattered to me.
MORE THAN A CAMERAI studied Mass Media Production in college, which helped shape the way I think about photography, video, and audio.
I've also created and published podcasts exploring topics that matter deeply to people — including mental health, fitness, immigration, and the personal stories of people who have rebuilt their lives after leaving difficult situations behind.
Whether I'm photographing a wedding, recording a conversation, filming a business, or capturing a family milestone, the thing I'm always looking for is the same:
The story underneath it all.
The details matter. The people matter. The emotion matters.
Because years from now, I don't just want you to remember what something looked like.
I want you to remember what it felt like.
My house is basically a zoo.
WHEN I'M NOT WORKINGWhen I'm not behind a camera, you'll probably find me spending time with my animals.
I have two dogs, four cats, and two horses, so it's safe to say animals are a pretty big part of my life.
I also love the outdoors, the mountains, and the kind of adventures that remind you to slow down and pay attention to what's happening around you.
Different stories. Same intention.
Whether I'm photographing a wedding, producing a podcast, or helping bring a creative project to life, I approach the work with the same goal: understand the story first, then figure out the best way to tell it.
PHOTOGRAPHY
From weddings and engagements to maternity, newborn, couples, boudoir, and more.
FILM
Wedding films, commercial video, and visual storytelling that brings moments to life.
PRODUCTION
Podcast production, audio engineering, commercial projects, real estate, and creative work beyond the traditional frame.
When I'm not behind the camera...
I'm probably somewhere surrounded by animals.
I'm originally from Texas, but I moved to Colorado because I wanted to be closer to the mountains. These days, home includes two dogs, four cats, and two horses so there's rarely a quiet moment around here.
I studied Mass Media Production in college, which only made my obsession with storytelling worse. Photography eventually grew into videography, audio production, and podcasting, and I've had the opportunity to publish two podcasts of my own along the way.
Basically, if there's a story to tell, I'm probably interested in figuring out how to tell it.
Colorado is home. Your destination can be anywhere.
Based in Colorado and booking nationwide, High Country Productions is built for stories that don't always happen close to home.
Whether you're getting married in the mountains, planning an elopement somewhere new, celebrating a milestone, or bringing a creative project to life across the country, I'm always up for the journey.
